How to Uninstall OneMerge Free Edition from Salesforce

If you have installed OneMerge Free Edition and no longer want to use it, you need to remove several dependencies before uninstalling the package from Salesforce.

Complete the following steps while signed in as a Salesforce System Administrator.

Important: Deleting OneMerge rules and configuration may be permanent. Before continuing, record or export any settings that you may want to keep.

1. Remove the OneMerge User permission set

The OneMerge User permission set must be removed from every assigned user.

  1. From Salesforce Setup, enter Permission Sets in the Quick Find box.
  2. Select Permission Sets.
  3. Open the OneMerge User permission set.
  4. Select Manage Assignments.
  5. Select all assigned users.
  6. Click Remove Assignments.
  7. Confirm the removal.

Before continuing, confirm that no users remain assigned to the permission set.

2. Remove OneMerge page-layout assignments

OneMerge has its own page layouts. Any OneMerge page layout assigned to a Target Object must be replaced before uninstalling the package.

For each Target Object configured in OneMerge:

  1. From Setup, open Object Manager.
  2. Select the Target Object.
  3. Select Page Layouts.
  4. Open Page Layout Assignment.
  5. Replace each OneMerge page layout with an appropriate standard or existing custom page layout.
  6. Save the changes.

Repeat these steps for every Target Object configured in OneMerge.

Important: Before changing an assignment, confirm which replacement page layout should be used for each profile and record type.

3. Deactivate all OneMerge flows

All OneMerge flows must be deactivated before uninstalling the package.

  1. From Setup, enter Flows in the Quick Find box.
  2. Select Flows.
  3. Locate each OneMerge flow.
  4. Open the flow.
  5. Deactivate its active version.
  6. Repeat these steps until no OneMerge flows remain active.

Take care not to deactivate unrelated flows with similar names.

4. Delete custom Metadata configuration

Note: This is a platform requirement, not OneMerge.

Delete all custom OneMerge configuration created in your Salesforce environment, including:

  • Custom Merge Rule Fields
  • Merge Rules
  • Rule Sets

Review each area in OneMerge and delete every custom item.

If an item cannot be deleted, it may still be referenced by another OneMerge configuration item. Review its dependencies, remove the dependent configuration, and then try again.

Before continuing, confirm that no custom Merge Rule Fields, Merge Rules, or Rule Sets remain.

Warning: Deleted configuration may not be recoverable. Make a record of anything you might need in the future before deleting it.

5. Uninstall OneMerge Free Edition

After completing all the previous steps:

  1. From Setup, enter Installed Packages in the Quick Find box.
  2. Select Installed Packages.
  3. Find OneMerge Free Edition.
  4. Click Uninstall.
  5. Review the information and options displayed by Salesforce.
  6. Select the appropriate option for handling package data.
  7. Confirm that you have reviewed the consequences of uninstalling the package.
  8. Click Uninstall.

Salesforce may process the uninstall in the background. Check the package status to confirm that the uninstall has completed.

Troubleshooting

If Salesforce prevents OneMerge Free Edition from being uninstalled, review the dependencies displayed on the uninstall page.

Check that:

  • The OneMerge User permission set is not assigned to any users.
  • No OneMerge page layouts remain assigned to a Target Object.
  • All OneMerge flows have been deactivated.
  • All custom Merge Rule Fields have been deleted.
  • All custom Merge Rules have been deleted.
  • All custom Rule Sets have been deleted.

Remove any remaining dependency and then try uninstalling the package again.

If you receive the following message, you shall need to delete the respective page layouts.

Note: If you install OneMerge when you already have OneMerge Free Edition Installed, then ensure the OneMerge Free Edition flows are disabled.
