OneMerge Training – How to configure OneMerge for Leads to Web Leads Merge (Custom Object).
This article provides an example scenario for Merging Leads to Web Leads (Custom Object). The purpose is to explain how to setup the configuration required for Cross Object Merge. In this example, Web Leads is a Custom Object.
The first step, is to create the Custom Object. This will require a page layout and new fields adding including the MDM fields. The quickest way to do this would be to replicate the OneMerge Lead page Layout.
The following provides a list of configuration steps:
-
- As stated, create a new Custom Object (in this example, it will be Web Lead).
- Now you will need to create a Custom Duplicate Rule which will need to be linked to a Custom Matching Rule.
- Each field for the Matching Rule will need to be mapped.
- A new Lookup field for Web Lead will need creating in the Merge Result object. (This enables the Merge Rule Linage within the Web Lead Records).
Once the Custom Duplicate and Matching Rules are created, then you can create a new Custom OneMerge Ruleset. You can do this through the Guided Setup in the footer of OneMerge or by using Custom Metadata Types.
The OneMerge Merge Ruleset specifies which record becomes the Master Record based upon Priority. You can also also specify how field values should be selected. You can then allocate Merge Rules to the Merge Ruleset, which define how fields are grouped, validated and prioritised for promotion to the Master Record. Cross Object field Mappings can then also be added which enable cross Object Merge (in this case Lead to Web Lead).
Once the Merge Ruleset has been created, then you can test the Lead to Web Lead Merge Result.
NOTE: This is based upon ‘Is Realtime Merge Active?’ being set in Application Settings (This can be done through the Guided Setup in the footer).
- Create a new Web Lead.
- Using the same credentials, create a new Lead.
The Lead will display the Web Lead in the Related List ( as long as this has been added to the Page Layout), and the Web Lead will display the ‘Last Matched Lead Date’ and the ‘Last matched Lead’. (The configuration for these fields can be found in this blog post).
