Cloning Merge Rulesets and Merge Rules allows you to deploy the configuration to a different environment, once testing and validation of the Merge Ruleset is complete. This article explains for to move the cloned Merge Ruleset and Merge Rules.

Test Scenario 1 – How to create an Outbound Change set for a Merge Ruleset and Merge Rules.

To create an Outbound Change set for a Merge Ruleset and Merge Rules, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Setup menu in the environment that has the validate and cloned Merge Ruleset and Merge Rules..
  2. In the Quick Find Box search for Outbound Change Sets.
  3. Click on the Continue button.
  4. Click on the New button and give the Change Set a name.
  5. Click on the Add Change Set button.
  6. From the dropdown, select Merge Rule Field (OneMerge).
  7. Select all the fields that are part of the cloned Merge Ruleset.
  8. Click on the button Add to Change Set.
  9. Do the same for the Merge Rule (OneMerge) and Merge Ruleset (OneMerge).
  10. The Outbound Change Set has been created.

Test Scenario 2 – How to Upload the Outbound Change Set to the Target Organization.

Note: Check the Deployment Settings for the environment accepts outbound changes for the Target Organization and the Target Organization accepts inbound changes.

  1. Select Upload within the Outbound change Set.
  2. Select the Target Organization.
  3. Click on the Upload button.
  4. An email will be sent to confirm when the Outbound Change Set is complete.

Test Scenario 3 – How to validate the Outbound Change Set to the Target Organization.

  1. Login to the Target Organization.
  2. Select the Guided Setup menu from the footer.
  3. Select the Merge Ruleset that has been copied across.
  4. Validate against the environment it has been copied from. (Note: This can also be done through the Custom Metadata Types)
