    Matching Partitions (Salesforce Matching Rules)

Salesforce Duplicate Rule Conditions filter the records for which the Duplicate Rule runs but not the records to which those records are matched. By default Salesforce Matching Rules match all records (without conditions).

The new packaged field Matching Partition (added to Account, Contact and Lead) can be referenced in Salesforce Matching Rules to restrict the records which are matched i.e. the matching equation includes the Matching Partition field with the Exact match type and AND logic.

For example, if the Matching Rule should only match Accounts with the Record Type equal to Supplier and the Billing Country equal to USA then the Matching Partition field should be populated with the text “Active” for records meeting both criteria. The Matching Rule should then require that in order for records to match they must have the exact same Matching Partition value.

A template flow is also provided to support population of the Matching Partition field based on custom logic: examples,  “Active”, “US Accounts”.
