How to Test OneMerge

How to Test OneMerge

The example scenarios below provide instructions on how to test Merging Duplicate Records. This will enable the validation of the Duplicate process and also the validation of the Merge Rule configuration. It is recommended to repeat the tests multiple times validating different Duplicate Records Match and Merge and the correct values are appended to the Merge Rule fields on the Master Record. This will provide validation that the Merge Ruleset and Merge Rule configuration has been setup correctly before executing a larger dataset.

Example Scenario 1 – Merge 2 duplicate Records in Real-Time to validate the Merge Rules

Pre-requisites:

  • All Setup Steps 1 – 4 in the Guided Setup Welcome Step have been completed.
  • A Merge Job has not been scheduled (this can be checked on the home page).
  • This scenario uses Account Records, but you can use the same steps with Contacts, Leads or PersonAccounts.
  • The ‘Is Realtime Merge Active?’ is set in Custom Settings, App Settings.

1.1 From the Accounts tab, select ‘Create New’.

1.2 Enter values into the fields that have been identified for Salesforce Duplicate Management

1.3 Enter values into the fields that have been identified for Merge Rules.

1.4 Save the Record.

1.5 Create a second Account Record with the same values for Salesforce Duplicate Management.

1.6 Enter different values into the Merge Rule fields.

1.7 Save the Record.

1.8 Click on the Accounts Tab. Only one Record is displayed.

1.9 Open the Account Record. The ‘Is Merge Master Record?’ checkbox is ticked.

At this point you can validate the Master Record has been created as per the Merge Ruleset and the field values are populated as per the Merge Rules.

Scenario 2 – Merge Duplicate Records Sets using Matching Jobs (Enterprise Edition)

  • The ‘Is Realtime Merge Active?’ is not set in Custom Settings, App Settings.
  • Test data already exists in the test environment.

2.1 Create a Matching Filter to identify existing records to use for testing purposes, e.g Email Address.

2.2 Schedule the Matching Job through the Guided Setup. The Matching Job will be displayed on the Home page.

2.3 Select the Duplicate Record Set tab.

2.4 Select the Duplicate Record Set that has just been created. Validate the Records with the Matching Filter item are displayed.

2.5 Schedule the Merge Job from the Guided Setup. Note: The Merge Job will look for all Duplicate Record Sets. Delete any that are obsolete before scheduling the Merge job.

Once the Merge Job has completed, the Duplicate Record Set will no longer be displayed and the Records would have merged and one Master Record created. At this point you can validate the Master Record has been created as per the Merge Ruleset and the field values are populated as per the Merge Rules.
