How to Manage Merge Object Mappings using Guided Setup

Within Guided Setup (further information can be found here) , there is the ability to be able to Manage Merge Object Mappings. This can be done in OneMerge Standard and Enterprise Editions only. Guided Setup, which can be launched from the footer in the utility bar, displays ‘Manage Merge Rulesets’. It is within this feature that cross object merge can be setup.

Salesforce Duplicate Management can identify duplicate records across Salesforce Objects. For example, Leads can be deduplicated against Contacts and Accounts. In order for OneMerge to merge duplicates in different Salesforce Objects a field mapping is required for the fields referenced by the Merge Rules (e.g. Lead City equals Contact Mailing City). With a complete mapping in place cross-object merge becomes possible.

OneMerge Merge Object Mappings can be configured to meet your merge requirements in the following ways.

  • Edit the Merge Object Mapping : The Master Record relationship field and Last Merged Date timestamp field can be specified for mapped objects. Such fields will then be updated during cross-object merge.
  • Manage Mapped Fields : Add or edit field mappings which enable cross-object merge (e.g. Lead to Contact).

From the Guided Setup, select Manage Merge Rulesets:

On the Next page, select the Merge Ruleset, leave ‘Edit the Selected Setting’ and click on the Next button.

The next pages explain what to select and enter into the fields to setup the Cross Object Merge based upon your requirements.
