How to create new Merge Rules in OneMerge

OneMerge creates default Merge Rulesets and Merge Rules for Account, Contact, Lead, and Individual Objects. The Getting Started guide on the website further explains these topics and how to configure them. You can also create new Rules in (and Merge Rulesets) up to the maximum limit specified in the Product Information page on the website.

The Guided Setup in the OneMerge App Home page footer provides step-by-step instructions on how to create new Merge Rules and Merge Rulesets, there is also a Training Guide that explains the process.

The default Merge Rulesets and Merge Rules can also be cloned and customised to fit specific requirements or extended to include additional fields. The following screenshots show where this information can be found within Guided Setup:

When creating new Merge Rules, it is important to consider the Master Record content and decide which values to display within this Record. Each field requires a Rule to be specified, the following provides an example:

To create a Merge Rule that populates the Master Record with the oldest field value, follow these steps:

  1. From the OneMerge Application Home page, click Guided Setup in the footer (the Welcome Step may display first if ‘hide Welcome step?’ has not been selected).
  2. On the first screen select the Setup Action Manage Merge Rulesets, and click the Next button (as shown below).
  3. On the next screen, select the Merge Ruleset to edit and click the Next button.
  4. On the next screen select Manage Merge Rules and click the Next button.
  5. On the next screen, create a new Merge Rule and click the Next button.
  6. Input the name of the Merge Rule on the next screen. For the Oldest value to win, select Merge Rule Priority ‘Oldest’, by Created Date. As described in the help text, other options can be specified (as shown below). Ensure ‘Is Active’ is selected and click the Next button.
  7. On the next screen, click on the Finish button. The Merge Rule has now been setup.
